Ο Τσάρλι, ένας σκύλος ιδιοκτήτης καζίνου, δολοφονείται από τον αντίπαλο του, Κάρφεϊς, και βρίσκεται στον παράδεισο, επειδή όλα τα σκυλιά πάνε εκεί. Όμως, θα βρει τρόπο να επιστρέψει στη Γη, με σκοπό να εκδικηθεί τον φονιά του, με κίνδυνο να βρεθεί μετά στην κόλαση. Αμέσως, βρίσκει τον Ίτσι, τον παλιό του συνέταιρο, αλλά κι ένα κοριτσάκι που μιλάει με τα ζώα. Αυτό θα βοηθήσει τον Τσάρλι να παίξει στον ιππόδρομο ώστε να χρηματοδοτήσει τα δόλια σχέδια του.
